Field Trip Central built the foundational WordPress prototype for MeetCaregivers—an innovative online marketplace intelligently matching seniors with caregivers, services, products, and technology—while simultaneously implementing and managing the startup's initial marketing, design, and product teams during the critical early launch phase. This dual role of product development and team building required balancing immediate technical deliverables with establishing sustainable processes, all while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance to protect sensitive health information in a complex, trust-dependent marketplace.
MeetCaregivers needed more than just a website—they needed a comprehensive digital platform that could serve multiple audience segments (seniors, family members, caregivers, service providers) while handling sensitive health data with healthcare-grade security. As a startup moving quickly toward launch, the company needed both a functional prototype for developer handoff and the organizational infrastructure to sustain growth. The platform had to balance accessibility for older adults with the sophistication required to manage complex matching algorithms, e-commerce functionality, and confidential user information. Without established marketing, design, or product teams in place, Field Trip Central needed to build both the platform and the processes simultaneously.
We developed a comprehensive WordPress prototype that served as both a functional sandbox for testing UX concepts and a detailed specification for the development team's final build. The prototype established the site's information architecture, user flows, and visual design system while allowing stakeholders to experience the platform before significant development investment. This approach reduced risk, clarified requirements, and ensured alignment across teams.
Recognizing that sustainable success required more than technology, we implemented and managed the initial marketing, design, and product teams—establishing workflows, communication protocols, and decision-making frameworks that would outlast our engagement. We created the foundational brand identity including stock photo curation and original icon development that conveyed trust, warmth, and professionalism. Strategic placeholder copy established the voice and messaging framework for all future content.
The UX strategy centered on creating "pillar pages" that consolidated related content types—caregiver matching, grocery delivery services, transportation options, retail products, and care resources—into intuitive hubs optimized for both SEO performance and user-friendly navigation. This architecture accommodated the platform's complexity while remaining accessible to seniors and family members navigating often stressful caregiving decisions.
HIPAA compliance permeated every aspect of the project, from form design to data capture protocols to third-party integration specifications. We ensured all user data collection, storage, and transmission met federal healthcare privacy standards, implementing secure authentication flows and encrypted data handling that protected sensitive health information while maintaining a seamless user experience.
A successful platform launch achieving 90% user satisfaction rates, supported by functioning internal teams equipped with processes and practices to sustain momentum. The WordPress prototype provided clarity that accelerated development while reducing costly revisions. The HIPAA-compliant architecture established trust with users navigating sensitive caregiving decisions, while the pillar page strategy made complex offerings accessible and discoverable. Most importantly, the organizational infrastructure—teams, workflows, and brand foundations—positioned MeetCaregivers for sustainable growth beyond the initial launch, transforming a startup concept into a scalable marketplace serving vulnerable populations with the care and compliance they deserve.
